Dear <strike>hapless victim</strike>... err... wonderful person who is writing a story for me.

( Abandon hope.... um, rather, more to follow? )

comments

"Coals to Newcastle" -- Supernatural

Disclaimer: I own neither Supernatural, nor the characters involved. I make no money from these works, they are for entertainment purposes only.
Title: " Coals to Newcastle "
Fandom: Supernatural
Characters: Crowley
Genre: Gen
Word Count: 2,450 (approx)
Rating: PG (language)
Credits: Thanks to looleebelleand rinkle for taking a look and giving me some courage not to just let this sit on my harddrive.
Spoilers: 6.04 "Weekend at Bobby's"

( Coals to Newcastle )

Notes: Part of this rose from an initial frustration at how inconsistent Crowley seems to be. One minute he's a master manipulator, slipping through loopholes like a corporate lawyer of the most immoral kind, and the next he's a short-term focussed, temper-tantrum pulling petty little bastard. But what, said that speculative side of me, if he's that way for a reason? What would happen, if instead of fighting possession, the host encouraged it?

Experience has also taught me that you don't need torture in Hell to make someone irredeemably, unimaginably evil. Some people are perfectly capable of getting there on their own.

Anyone unfamiliar with the origin of the title can find it here

comments

"Alternate History" -- Leverage

Disclaimer: I own neither Leverage, nor the characters involved. They belong to someone far wittier than I. I make no money from these works, they are for entertainment purposes only.
Title: " Alternate History "
Fandom: Leverage
Characters: James Sterling and Nate Ford
Genre: Gen
Word Count: Rating: PG (language)
Credits: rinkle and goodisrelative for the beta. Yes, it's taken me until this long to get around to this. It has nothing to do with them, and everything to do with me. Thank you too, goodisrelative for letting me know that I had at least shaky legal ground for this, which seems to be good enough in the Leverage-verse. Any remaining errors are due to my stubbornness as a storyteller, not their best efforts.
Spoilers: General for the series, 1x12 "The First David Job", specifically.

( Alternate History )

comments

Yuletide letter (currently no longer a placeholder)

Dear Yulegoat,

Dear Lord, I don't know where to start. Hmm...

Mostly, I'm a gen girl – anything else needs to hit me in the right mood to work. I'm not saying it won't, but gen is that middle of the road, safe territory that doesn't muck around with peoples' OT-whatevers. Safe for me, because I don't always have OT-whatevers. Too often I see something that changes it.

I like stories that fit with the milieu. Some universes weren't made for crack!fic while others support it more generously. That said, I love stuff that takes an idea (a line, an object) from canon and expands on it. Retellings of stories from someone else's point of view – a kind of Rashamon take on canon, if you will – are also a favourite. Did 'X' really mean what people think he/she did? Or was it less/more evil than that? A different take on a character that isn't necessarily OOC – the ingredients are there, but it's not the most obvious interpretation.

I like interesting characters. Characters who aren't afraid to be themselves.

I like everyday stories. One of my favourite songs is Dire Strait's "Sultan's of Swing". Listen to the lyrics or Google them. It's a song that's really about nothing other than a band in a bar. Given the nature of dramatic works, we see our characters in extraordinary situations all the time. But what happens when nothing's happening? They've got to go grocery shopping some time, right? I'm not great at writing those all the time, myself (so I can't blame you if you decide to write something bigger), but I love reading them.

Given my past Yuletide experience, I'm sure whatever you come up with is going to amaze me.

-- Me.

P.S. Spoilers!

Flashpoint – I'm Canadian, so I've seen everything that has aired and think CBS sucks. When they stop mucking with my show, I might change my mind.

Kenzie-Gennaro series – I've read everything up to and including Moonlight Mile, so you're pretty safe there.

Nero Wolfe series – I don't care if you cheat and find the A&E TV-eps with Timothy Hutton and Maury Chaykin, because I've seen them and they stick close enough to canon to count. I have an entire bookshelf loaded with paperbacks, all with Stout's name on the cover. This is probably my oldest fandom, from before I really realised there was a thing called fandom. (Not to intimidate you or anything. ;) ).

comments

"Everything is Automatic" -- Flashpoint

Disclaimer: I own neither Flashpoint, nor the characters involved. They belong to Pink Sky and CTV television. I make no money from these works, they are for entertainment purposes only.
Title: " Everything is Automatic"
Fandom: Flashpoint
Character: Various.
Genre: Gen
Word Count: 14,266
Rating: PG (language)
Spoilers: 2.03 "Haunting The Barn" Minor (very) for 2.07 "Clean Hands" General character stuff, post 2.14 "One Wrong Move." Not much else I can think of. All episode notation derived from CTV.ca
Credits:.
Author's Notes: Written for spook_me

Please note that this has been posted prior to a beta, simply due to length and it being past deadline. This is NOT a state of affairs I am happy with, however it would be unfair and unrealistic to expect my betas to be able to complete their end in a reasonable amount of time, nor would it be fair to ask them to rush, simply because I was not able to finish before or even at the deadline.

Thus, the contents here are subject to change upon beta completion. Also, if you see any glaring errors, such as spelling mistakes or unfinished sentences, feel free to point them out.

( Everything is Automatic )

comments

Disclaimer: I own neither Leverage, nor the characters involved. They belong to someone far wittier than I. I make no money from these works, they are for entertainment purposes only.
Title: "Parley"
Fandom: Leverage
Character: Jim Sterling and Tara Cole.
Genre: Gen
Word Count: 1,980
Rating: PG (language)
Spoilers: Up to 2.15 "The Maltese Falcon Job". Takes place just after the conclusion of S2.
Credits: Thank you rinkle and goodisrelative for the beta, plus that other pesky anonymous person.
Notes: This is the second of three I wrote surrounding that last scene in "The Maltese Falcon Job." I couldn't decide which to post, and my betas said I might as well go with all three. So, yes, there is a third, forthcoming. Sorry, couldn't resist that.

( Parley )

comments

Remember, I know who you are.

Summary: Sterling seems to cling to the fantasy that they were once friends, or at the very least share some kind of common bond.

( Inconceivable )

comments

This Mourning -- Flashpoint

Disclaimer: I own neither Flashpoint, nor the characters involved. They belong to Pink Sky and CTV television. I make no money from these works, they are for entertainment purposes only.
Title: " This Mourning "
Fandom: Flashpoint
Character: Gregory Parker and Spike Scarlatti.
Genre: Gen/Angst
Word Count: 5,729.
Rating: PG (language)
Spoilers: Up to 2.22 "Behind The Blue Line"
Notes: I confess, this was partly therapeutic, for me. Dedicated to Snuffy and Jedi, two of the greatest sources of unconditional love I've ever known. Title taken from a song by Wide Mouth Mason http://www.widemouthmason.com/index.php?page=lyrics&song=WMM-05

( This Mourning )

comments

Universal Knowlege -- Flashpoint

I wanted to start this thing off with something new, before I start trying to track down and gather together everything else. But with one thing and another, it just didn't seem to work that way.

So, rather, take one rather new fandom (for me, at least), a previously used concept and create something never before published. Thus, I bring you:

Disclaimer: I own neither Flashpoint, nor the characters involved. They belong to Pink Sky and CTV television. I make no money from these works, they are for entertainment purposes only.
Title: " Universal Knowledge: A series of Dewey Drabbles "
Fandom: Flashpoint
Character: Multiple, but Spike focused.
Genre: Gen
Word Count: 1,000 (not including section titles) – 10x100.
Rating: PG (language) if even really that strong. I'm simply erring on the side of caution.
Spoilers: Minor Spoilers for a bit of dialogue in 2.07 "Clean Hands". Bonus points to anyone who actually catches it.
Credits: Thank you rinkle and Cate for the beta work.
Author's Notes: I've done these before in other fandoms, and I'd like to do a few more. However, if anyone else wants to take the idea and run with it for their own fandoms, please do, though I wouldn't mind a little credit. Dewey – of course – refers to the Dewey Decimal Classification system used in many libraries to organise (generally) non-fiction works.

I also did a little something different here, with the addition of subtitles. Subtitle word counts are included in the whole.

( Universal Knowledge: A series of Dewey Drabbles )

comments
